Bucky Bethancourt has been a dedicated member of Scottsdale UMC for 15 years. For the past nine years, he has served as Lay Leader, a role in the United Methodist Church that involves supporting the spiritual life of the congregation, fostering communication between clergy and laity, and helping guide the church’s mission and ministry.
Bucky is passionate about learning more about the United Methodist Church and sharing that knowledge with others. With a strong background in working with youth and young children, he continues this meaningful work through the church’s daycare, where he leads “Chapel” each Wednesday—offering children an engaging and accessible blend of biblical teaching and music.
He is also an active member of the SUMC Chancel Choir, where he enjoys the fellowship of fellow singers and the opportunity to praise in spirit and truth. A vital part of the SUMC family, Bucky regularly steps in to assist with worship services, funerals, and other needs of the church. He looks forward with optimism to the future of SUMC and its continued growth alongside an evolving community.
